Scope

  • This privacy policy covers the ApplyOrNot website and Chrome extension.
  • ApplyOrNot is a job-decision tool for international students that analyzes resume text, job descriptions, visa status, and optional company signals.

Information you submit

  • Resume text that you paste into the website or save through the Chrome extension.
  • Uploaded resume files that are processed to extract text for analysis.
  • Job descriptions, job titles, source URLs, and company names that you enter or that the extension extracts from supported job pages.
  • Visa status selections such as F1 OPT, CPT, H1B, or Other.
  • Scan usage counts and saved local preferences when browser storage is enabled.

How we use information

  • We use the submitted resume, job description, company name, and visa status to generate a job-application recommendation.
  • We may use the company name to perform best-effort public company research when that feature is enabled.
  • We use browser storage to keep track of saved resume text, resume file names, scan counts, and recent results so the website and extension stay usable.
  • We send the analysis payload to our third-party AI provider so the recommendation can be generated.

Extension and browser access

  • The Chrome extension reads the content of supported job pages only when you use the extension to analyze a job posting.
  • The extension uses browser storage to save resume text, visa status, and local scan usage on your device.
  • The extension does not intentionally collect unrelated browsing history, emails, passwords, or personal files.

Sharing and third parties

  • We may share analysis data with OpenRouter so the AI analysis can run.
  • When company research is enabled, we may query public web sources server-side using the company name and job-related context.
  • Our hosting provider and browser platform may process limited request metadata and standard logs needed to operate and secure the service.
  • We do not sell personal data.

Storage and retention

  • Uploaded resume files are processed to extract text and are not intended to be stored permanently by the service.
  • Resume text may remain in your browser storage until you remove it or clear site data.
  • Temporary server logs may exist for debugging, reliability, and abuse prevention.

Your choices

  • You can clear local site data or extension storage from your browser at any time.
  • You can remove saved resume data from the extension using the remove control or by clearing browser storage.
